DAY 9: BLOGGING THE “Baffin Island and Greenland Explorer” trip:
Aug. 4-14, 2013
Today is Tuesday, August 13, 2013, and here we are nestled
in one of the world’s largest fjords, Sondre Stromfjord which cuts into the
interior of Greenland. Glacial tongues,
high, steep, mountainous ranges of pre-Cambrian shield surround out glistening
white ship. Hanging on the tops and crevasses
of these mountains are huge tongues of blue and white melting ice rivers. We
hiked to the top of one large range and basked in the view below…. There
were yellow green swamp like areas dotted with Arctic Cotton flowers, and
little magenta Arctic roses. Later when
cruising in our zodiacs tiny jelly fish undulated around our vessel. What were you doing on Tuesday, August 13,
2013?
